When I get feedback from our iTwin users, one recurring theme is the measuring tool not being user friendly enough and the inability to take perpendicular measurements or being able to lock X,Y or Z axis.
The iTwin used to feature the brilliant AccuDraw compass found in Bentley CAD authoring software. It has since been removed and we feel that re-introducing this feature would solve the problematic iTwin Measuring tool.
It will be brilliant to have the AccuDraw compass in iTwin, so when you click on the first point of you measurement, the compass will appear where you can then:
Typing ‘T’ to lock the compass to ‘Top View’
Typing ‘F’ to lock the compass to ‘Front View’
Typing ‘S’ to lock the compass to ‘Side View’
And then simply hit the ‘Enter’ button to lock the X or Y axis and move your cursor to the point where you want to take the measurement, making perpendicular measurements a very easy task.
Many of the competitor design review software offers a solution like this.
AccuDraw used to be in the iTwin (See link to Bentley Communities below). Please can we ask for this to be re-introduced into iTwin – it is a brilliant tool!

also note the snaps are very difficult to select or do not select the desired location
Honestly, this must be the top priority to get this tool working! Great frustration that you cannot measure in a correct way.
