Ability to Set Different Clearance Values for Different Planes in iModel

Currently, iModel performs clearance checks using a single, uniform value across all directions. This proposed enhancement introduces the capability to define clearance values specific to each direction—such as separate horizontal and vertical clearances.

For example, vertical clearance may require a larger buffer than horizontal clearance due to design constraints or regulatory guidelines in infrastructure projects.

By enabling direction-specific clearance settings, this enhancement will:

  • improve the precision of clash detection and compliance assessments.

  • It will be particularly valuable for projects with complex geometries, multi-disciplinary coordination

    Clash Detection
Can the I-Model set different clearance values for different planes of direction? – This is particularly important for clash detection between different underground utilities, as these utilities will often have different clearance requirements depending on whether it’s horizontal or vertical clearance
